This shawl is my second in my series of crocheted cabled shawls. After hearing (loud and clear- hahaha!) that Moria was quite the yarn eater, I went about designing something cable-y and beautiful, but with much less yarn. Hence, Baleygr!

Gauge is not essential on this. You can easily make it larger or smaller by making more/less of the plain field, adding rows to the Fire-eyed pattern, or by changing hook and yarn size.

Sample in first photo used 3 skeins of Malabrigo sock yarn. Sample in second photo used 2 skeins of Woolike. Yardage needed is between 1200-1300 for a fingering weight yarn.

F/3.75 mm hook

The pattern includes written instructions, charts, and a photo tutorial of the “ghost stitch” used to make the cables lie neatly and without the holes that typically mar crochet cable-work, especially when the cables reach across several stitches. CSW Group did an -along for this shawl in March 2016. If you’d like to see their notes and helpful suggestions and encouragement as you make this shawl, a link to the thread is here---- http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/crochet-shoulder-wrappers/...
