Balise Cardigan
Everyone needs a basic little striped cardigan! Balise is top-down, seamless, and with a slight set-in style sleeve. The front has a slight v-neck shaping. The pattern recommends a gauge of 26-27 stitches over four inches; standard fingering weights will lean toward 26 st over 4″ (Sherwood Yarn Bluefaced Leicester Sock is recommended for this gauge) and lighter fingering or heavy lace will be 27 st over 4″ (such as Sherwood Yarn Mulberry Silk Merino). The lighter gauge yarn will result in slightly smaller ease and an overall daintier sweater that can be a bit dressier. For more everyday wear, I recommend the Bluefaced Leicester.
Tip: If you have lots of fingering weight minis in your stash, try using them for your skinny stripes!
Be sure to test your yarn for color-fastness when working with stripes. Wet-block your striped swatch before you begin.

Use needle size necessary to obtain gauge

Sleeve circumference at widest point:
26 st per 4″ gauge: 11 (12, 12, 13, 15, 15, 16, 18)”
27 st per 4″ gauge: 11 (11.5, 11.8, 12, 14, 14.5, 15.7, 17.5)”
Length of body from sleeve divide/underarm: 12 – 14″ per preference
