Ballyglass Shawl
About:
The Ballyglass Shawl is named after the small village of Ballyglass (Irish: An Baile Glas, meaning ‘Green Village’) located in central County Mayo in Ireland.
There is a famous lighthouse in this coastal village that lights up the area with spots of light that dapple the air and water. Just like the graphic radiating stripes dapple the stockinette background of this blue green shawl.
This shawl is filled with engaging eyelets that are easy to keep track of. It also has a knit and two purl rest rows in between the eyelet rows, to allow you some time to just enjoy the knitting in your hands.
Written in two sizes—small and large—this shawl has so many possibilities for styling.
This classic lace triangle-shaped shawl—with both written and charted directions—is easy enough for a confident beginner knitter but engaging enough for an advanced one.
