Balou
Balou is a classic circular yoke colorwork pullover to get cozy
in on chilly days. You can choose between a crew neck and
a turtleneck according to your preferences. With a simple
colorwork design with very few long floats, this is also perfect
for a first colorwork sweater project.
PATTERN NOTES:
The Pullover is worked in the round from the top down,
starting with the colorwork yoke. Short rows are used to raise
the back and improve the fit at the neckline. Once colorwork
and shaping are complete, body and sleeves are separated,
and finished in the round.
SIZES:
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)

145, 155) cm/30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62)“
I recommend choosing a size with 5-15 cm/2-6” positive ease
to get a comfortable fit. Sample is size 3, worn with approx.
12.5 cm/5” positive ease on a 91.5/36½” chest.

NEEDLES:
4.5 mm/US 7 circular needle (100 cm/40” 80 cm/32” and 60
cm/24”) or size needed for gauge.
4.0 mm/US 6 circular needle (80 cm/32” and 60 cm/24”) or
one size smaller than gauge needle.
GAUGE:
19 sts and 26 rounds in 10 cm/4” on larger needle in
stockinette and colorwork, worked in the round (blocked).
Row gauge is especially important for this design, since it
defines the yoke depth and therefore the fit around the
shoulders.
