Inspired by the wonderful landscape of the Baltic States, this big assymetrical shawl combines garterstitch, mosaic sections (slipped stitches) and German shortrows. It is worked flat, from the top centre to the bottom with a lace-weight-mohairyarn held double for MC and a dk weight yarn for CC. There is no single purlstitch in this pattern! The mosaic sections create an interesting texture along with using two different yarn fibres (mohair & sheep), the shortrows give the shawl its assymetrical shape and create eye-catching graphic elements. All needed techniques are explained or linked to in this pattern.

MATERIALS: 1x 4,5mm/US 7 needles (circular about 150cm/60inches long or more)
3x markers (for marking shortrows and centrestitch)
1x tapestry needle (for weaving in yarnends)

YARN: Lace-Weight-Mohairyarn held double for MC: about 100g or 840m/920yds
(NOTE: MC = two yarns held together!)
For choosing yarns, I recommend using similar shades of colours for both strands of MC, to get the desired pattern/colour effect.
DK-Weight-Yarn for CC: about 70g or 280m/306yds
Note: If you’ll use a heavier weight yarn for MC, like a DK or worsted weight yarn, you’ll need just about half the amount of yarn.
