Bamboo Stitch Shawl
This is another one of my therapy shawls. I go through phases in my knitting where I gravitate toward the simple patterns. Sometimes I really enjoy a good knit that does not require too much thinking; but one that allows me as I knit along to get into a good rhythm. For me it’s okay to keep repeating something as long as the end result is pleasing. In this knit, it’s just a two row pattern. But as the pattern unfolds, the texture that it creates is interesting. The stitch is commonly called a Bamboo stitch. In this case I worked the yarn over in reverse, which adds just a little more texture to the stitch. The end result is a squishy soft textured little shawl, perfect for spring wear.
My gauge was 4 stitches to the inch in this pattern after blocking. However, gauge for this pattern is not important. What is important is that you get the openness and the drape you are looking for.
The final measurements for my shawl, using only two skeins ( approx. 290 yds) is are 55” x 20”.
