Banana Flambe Shawlette
The Banana Flambé Crescent Shaped Lace Shawlette is a knit version of this showstopper dessert. I chose to knit this pattern in just 1 skein (310 yards) of Malabrigo’s Rastita yarn in the shade of “Archangel” for obvious reasons. It is a tropical-colored, variegated, slightly felted, pure merino wool that is hand dyed in Uruguay. It has a “wingspan” of about 6 feet…plenty of room to wrap around your shoulders or neck as either a shawl or a scarf, and is about a foot wide at its center, deepest point. The shawlette features a scalloped lace edging pattern which is worked twice and looks like 2 rows of bananas lying on their sides with spokes of flames bursting flambé-style from their centers. The shawl is worked from the bottom up. Garter stitch short rows, with an option to do a polka dot lace mesh instead, make up the body of the shawlette. Its crescent shape makes it easy to wear.
