October is PCD awareness month.

I dedicated this pattern to all my friends worldwide, who are dealing with the same condition as I do:

PCD - Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia with situs inversus totalis.
Also called “Kartagener’s Syndrome”.
What is Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) / Kartagener‘s Syndrome?
Its a genetically caused (automal recessive) disorder of cilia (microscopic hair-like structures) of lower and upper airways, sinuses, eustachian tubes, ventricles of the brain and reproductive organs.
This ultrastructural defect causes dymotility or immotility of cilia.
There is no mucociliary clearance of our airways. We have cronic bronchitis with bronchiectasis, sinusitis, otitis media and we often have bacteria in airways, which have to be treated with antibiotics.
We are doing airway clearance techniques daily, nebulizing bronchodilators and hypertonic saline to loosen up mucus in our airways.
