Worked from the cuff down with 5 gradient colors these socks are a study in simple elements combined into an interesting whole. A combination of 1x1 twisted ribbing and eyelet bands make for a textured and comfortable sock that moves from color to color.

MATERIALS
Mountain Colors, Perspectives [90% superwash Merino wool, 10% nylon; 100g total, 5 mini skeins, each 90 yd]; Color: Paradise

1 set US #1/2.5 mm double pointed needles (dpns), set of 4. Change needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge

Tapestry needle, stitch markers (4), piece of waste yarn for afterthought heel

PATTERN NOTES
These socks are worked from the cuff down. Sample is shown with each sock worked in opposite color order but yardage is sufficient for socks to be worked the same for all sizes.

Color changes are noted at the beginning of each section: Cut the previous color and attach the new color before beginning next section.

If extra length is desired, the best place to add this is in the Mid Foot Section (ribbed section); DO NOT add extra length to the toe section as the yardage may not be sufficient.

This sock uses an afterthought heel: A spare piece of yarn is needed to create this heel. Substituting another heel may change yardage requirements for this pattern. When working length in the foot section, take into account that the heel will add 2 (2 1/4, 2 1/2)” in length; make sure to subtract this from your total desired length.
