These patterns were inspired by sample swatches of cables and pattern stitches. The intricate patterns looked like the twining chains of fine jewelry, so I combined the ideas; knitted jewelry covered in pattern stitches. These bangles are knit flat and seamed at the end, using cable and bead stitches to create the patterns. Gauge is not very important, these quick projects are suitable for beginners and using up small bits of leftover yarn.

Size:
depending on gauge, bangles measure approximately 1.5” wide.

Materials:
Sock or fingering weight yarn, less than 50 yds for each bangle; U.S. size 1 straight needles; cable needle; small crochet hook; 6-7 beads (for bangle 1); 350 small jump rings (for bangle 2).

Gauge:
approx. 9 stitches = 1 inch

Cable stitches (C3B, C4B, C4F)

These patterns are pretty forgiving, size wise. The bangles are stretchy enough to go over most hands, and simply using a heavier yarn and larger needles will give you a bigger cuff. Similarly, thinner yarn and smaller needles will give a smaller bracelet. Self striping or variegated yarns give interesting color patterns, and these little projects are great for stash busting old sock yarn. The beads on the first bangle are completely optional, but I like the sparkle it gives to the butterfly stitch.
