1 x Knitting Pattern for Bangor.
It only seems like yesterday since I was feverishly knitting away so that I had some stylish knits for when I started university. But in reality there have been more yesterdays than I care to remember!
I attended Bangor which is fortuitously situated near Snowdonia with its hills and mountains, and the Menai Straits and Irish Sea. And what you did at the weekend (apart from going to the pub) rather depended on whether you preferred sailing/diving or hiking. I enjoyed both, but the hills won me over.
So when I was mulling over the designs for my College Collection, I wanted these two elements to be reflected in the design for Bangor. The bottom section represents the misty hills that you could see from the main university building, and the mid sections represent the choppiness of the sea. But depending on your preference, you can either wear the scarf on the side where the ‘hills’ pattern is more prominent or on the other for the ‘sea’.
This is an elegant college style scarf, suitable for knitters of all abilities. It’s a fun, simple project that does need an element of row counting, but being an Aran knit it’s easy to check back so you can let your mind go blank for a little while rather than mark off each row as you go! This is also what makes it a great box set companion.
It can be styled in a number of ways. You can simply wear it straight, flicked over one shoulder or wrapped around the neck.
But whether you knit this accessory for someone you know who is off to university or college, another loved one or just for yourself, this scarf is a fabulous addition to any wardrobe.
Happy knitting!
