Many (too many!) years ago I was born in the great Yorkshire wool city of Bradford. I haven’t lived there since I was a child, but I’ve maintained my love for Bradford City FC – the Bantams – who, after 2 seasons of premiership glory, collapsed tothe lowest tier of the Football LeagueHowever this year, 2013, they’ve beaten a hat trick of Premiership sides and made the Final of the League Cup (albeit they were beaten) and used the practice to win the playoff final and get themselves promoted to League One (which is, if you’re unfamiliar with the peculiar terminology of current English football, actually the third division). Of course I had to knit myself a hat, in City’s claret-and-gold colour scheme, to celebrate, and thought I’d share the pattern!

You don’t have to be a Bradford City fan to make this hat - it’s also perfect for feeding the chickens on a chilly morning…

All sizes should knit from 2 x 50g balls aran weight yarn (one in each colour).

This is my first colourwork pattern so all feedback gratefully received, especially on the decrease chart & sizing.

I have been reviewing my free pattern offerings and am pleased to say this pattern will remain as a free download. Please bear in mind it has not been tested or tech-edited.
