I have long wanted to design a shawl with a scalloped edge. The shape of the shawl reminds me of a sunrise as well as a big round tree. Hence the name Baobab. The shawl was previously exclusive to the Finnish knitting club Kalakukkojen neuleklubi, of the Ravelry group Kalakukko puikoissa.

Kässäkerho Pom pom Donegal sock; 85% Merino, 15% Viscose, 100 g/ 400 m (438 yds)
Color A= Purple, approx. 66 g/ 264 m (289 yds)
Color B= Light green, approx. 72 g/ 288 m (315 yds)
Kässäkerho Pom pom BFL sock; 75% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester -sheep wool, 25% Nylon, 100g/ 425 m (465 yds)
Color C= Peach, approx. 150 g/ 637,5 m (697 yds)

Shawl 2
Hjertegarn Wool Silk; 75% wool, 25 % silk, 50 g/ 300 m (328 yds)
Color A= Dark red, color 3016, approx. 50 g/ 300 m (328 yds)
Color B= Rusty orange, color 3003, approx. 50g/ 300 m (328 yds)
Color C= Bright yellow, color 3019, approx. 120 g/ 720 m (787 yds)
Or you can use any other wool or wool blend fingering weight yarns.

NEEDLES:
3,75 mm (US 5) 100 cm (39.4 inch) long circular needles. You can switch to longer needles for the last rows.

GAUGE:
20 sts and 41 rows =10 cm (4 inch) in garter sts
You can adjust the size of the shawl by modifying the
tension and/ or making fewer sections. Original shawl
includes a total of 5 sections.

THE SIZE AND SHAPE OF THE SHAWL:
Measurements when shawl is lying flat: width approx
115 cm (45.3 inch) x height approx 115 cm (45.3 inch).
Measurement from the center to the edge is approx
63 cm (24.8 inch).
