Imagine sitting in a gondola in Venice. Water quietly laps at your boat while you sit in awe of the ancient buildings around you. Vines trail down the crumbling brick while arches soar to meet the sky. In the quiet beauty, your gondolier begins to sing his haunting baracole.
The Baracole cowl has a simple (and easy to memorize) lace motif reminiscent of arching stained glass windows lining the rivers of Venice. Decreases worked into the lace make the cowl larger at the bottom than at the top, which allows you to really show off those arcs tipped with a single bobble. The cowl is worked from the bottom up, and after completing the bit ‘o lace, you’ll switch to stockinette to zip up to the top.
This quick knit is the perfect gift and a stunning accent to any outfit!
