Baranduin Mitts
These gorgeous mitts are sure to chase away the cold!
The ribbing and cable make it possible for this mitt to fit a wide range of sizes.
The name Baranduin is the Sindarin translation of “Brandywine” in the Tolkien world. The celtic knot that entwines its way up the body of the mitt makes this accessory fit to be worn out on the town or in the midst of battle.
Materials:
100 grams of worsted weight yarn (I recommend using a solid or tonal colored yarn to showcase the Cables that intertwine all the way up the mitt.)
US size 4 cable needles (3.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge (I prefer magic loop so I used a 40 inch cable)
Waste yarn
Tapestry needle
Cable needle
Note: This pattern includes both a chart and written instructions.
The weight of yarn needed is about 75 grams of yarn. If one more chart repeat is added the weight of yarn needed is still slightly shy of 100 grams.
Skills needed: Cabling techniques
Note:
For a smaller hand size- Use sport weight yarn (5ply) and 3.25mm needles. Guage: 7 stitches per inch
You may have to add one more repeat in the arm to make it a longer length, but all other directions can be followed as written.
This will fit a hand with a palm size of 7.5 inches and a wrist of 6 inches.
