Barbara Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs CAL

This delightful crescent-shaped shawlette adds flair and warmth to any outfit. The pattern is accessible for Advanced Easy crocheters, but its elegance belies the ease of making it. With a couple of hours and ONE SKEIN of Big Twist Sincerely yarn, you can make your own beautiful Barbara Shawl.

To begin, you’ll work the base of this shawl in dc. The strategically-placed increases and decreases start the crescent shape. From there, a shell/mesh stitch forms into a longer border that drapes beautifully.

The Barbara Shawl is the August installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
