Barbara the bluebird has been ever so busy. She has made a warm, cozy nest using twigs and leaves just in time to lay her eggs. Now she will stay home until each one has hatched and her babies have flown the nest. Then she plans to go back to work as a bird lawyer.
This pattern includes step-by-step images and written instructions. It will explain how to make Barbara the bluebird, baby chicks, whole eggs, hatching eggs and a nest.
Must know how to:
● Single crochet (US) / Double crochet (UK)
● Use ‘Magic circle’ method for crochet in the round (stitch multiple stitches within one loop and pull tight to form a circle)
● Increase
● Decrease
● Slip stitch
● Chain stitches
● only suitable for English speakers
You will need:
4mm crochet hook
Embroidery needle
Polyester toy stuffing
Row marker
For Barbara -
100g blue double knitting yarn for body
25g of yellow double knitting yarn for beak
25g of orange double knitting yarn for feet
Small amount of black double knitting yarn for eyes
For chick -
50g yellow double knitting yarn for body
Small amount of orange double knitting yarn for beak
Small amount of black double knitting yarn for eyes
For egg -
50g cream double knitting yarn
For nest -
100g brown chunky yarn
Finished dimensions:
Barbara - 9cm tall x 11cm wide
Chick - 4cm tall x 4cm wide
Egg - 4cm tall x 3.5cm wide
Nest - 13cm wide
