Barely
For in-between seasons, when it’s merely a little bit chilly, when you barely need an extra layer on, but you begrudgingly admit that you’re not quite warm enough … a collection of luscious, lightweight layers that you hardly notice you’re wearing ~ The Seasonal Adverb Collection.
Barely is a mitten for those who resent that they need to wear anything at all. Flip off the weather with an exposed finger, or give the changing seasons a big thumbs-up.
Knit in Indigodragonfly’s wonderful MerGoat Sock, the pieces in this collection are intended to be knit quickly so that you have some sumptuous fabric and colour to welcome the change in seasons.
Barely starts with an i-cord cast-on for a gauntlet cuff that is tapered and knit flat. The hand is then knit in the round with a gusseted thumb. Openings in the palm and thumb allow opposable digits out to cool off, to text, and to make gestures.
Notes about fit: These mittens offer luxurious protection against a light chill. They are not as dense as a winter mitten and the fit has more ease. Choose a size close to your actual hand measurement; if you’re between sizes, choose one slightly smaller as the fabric will stretch to fit.
Other pieces in The Seasonal Adverb Collection include Merely, a slouchy hat, Hardly, a lightweight cowl, and Begrudgingly, a pair of fingerless mitts.
