Barking Mad Hat & Cowl
The classic Houndstooth stitch is worked on the diagonal to create modern and very wearable crochet!
The main section of each item is worked in a rectangle, corner to corner. For the hat and cowl, it is then folded in half and the ends are sewn together.
The top of the hat is gathered to close and the bottom of the hat has a foundation of dc stitches, into which a fabulous Join As You Go rib is worked.
The cowl features a simple scallop edging.
This pattern includes a chart and links to some handy video tutorials for certain elements of the pattern, such as the Stacked Start for beginning of rows and the JAYG ribbing for the hat.
The hat can be made with less than 100g of YA and 50g of YB.
The cowl requires 100g of both colours. I used all of the colour that is also used for the scallop edging so it might be worth getting an extra “just in case” ball.
The scarf uses 2x100g of DK yarn or fingering weight held double with mohair. If choosing the latter, a 3.75mm might be better as it isn’t quite as plump as standard DK.
