This pattern starts with 80 stitches, decreases to 68, then increases again to 90 stitches before casting off 20 stitches for the thumb. I finish the thumb with 5 rows of crochet, but that is not a necessity for this pattern. You can also knit the last few rows of the thumb if you prefer. You should only need 1 skein of 50 grams of each color to finish both mittens.There should be some yarn leftover at the end.
