Barn Dance
Barn Dance - A celebration of spring on the farm - is a two step on the needles! This design is rooted in the traditions and the history of this region of Norway, in which I call home - Trøndelag.
A rustic, asymmetrical triangular shaped farm Hap, that is warm, light, and has beautiful drape. It includes a Shetland lace motif, from 1884 - which I have modified specifically for this design.
Please note:
This pattern has been professionally tech editied and knit for clarity. It is in written form, row by row and is fully charted.
Planning your project:
To knit the original design, you will need 4 balls of Rauma lamb’s wool garn. A total of 200 grams and 1000 meters. Or - 4 balls of Rauma Finullgarn. A total of 200 grams and 700 meters.
This hap was designed to use only 100% pure wool.
You can purchase the original Barn Dance Yarn Kit within my farm shop.
This Hap can be knit in any weight of wool to the desired length, by adjusting the amount of wool needed and the needle size.
This design has been swatched and tested in fingering, sport, DK and worsted weight yarns. All create a beautiful, rich textured fabric when going up 2 to 2 1/2 needle sizes above the gauge of the wool chosen for this project.
The actual gauge within this Hap is not as important as the fabric that you are creating.
The original design has a wingspan of 170 cm but is designed to be knit to the desired length.
Please consider the environment before printing out this pattern. It was written to be used in a digital format or A4 European paper size.
