This hat has a reverse stocking stitch crown that texturally evolves into a 1x1 ribbing brim. The hat is worked in the round from the wrong side to reduce purl stitching.

Cast on with Emily Ocker’s Circular Cast on, increase until the hat reaches the correct width and work towards the brim. Thread the live stitches with scrap yarn at any time to try it on and see when it’s reached the perfect length. This is a stretchy hat; select a size with 5-8cm/ 2-3” negative ease.

Materials
Yarn: 201m (220y)/ 100g (3.5oz ) worsted weight plied 100% superwash wool yarn or similar. Samples shown in Polka Dot Sheep PDS Worsted (100% wool) “ Petals” and Sweet Fiber Cashmerino Worsted (80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% silk) “Ever Grey.”

Tools
4.5mm/US7 40cm/ 16” circular needle and 4.5mm/US7 Double Pointed Needles (or magic loop equivalents) or size to achieve gauge, crochet hook, stitch marker, pompom (optional), and tapestry needle.
