Knitting a scarf is boring!
That’s what I found out trying it several times. The first 10” are nice but then it always became a never ending story!
So, what can we do to make knitting a long scarf more interesting?
First of all, use a beautiful yarn with brilliant colors, second, let’s try an unusual construction.
The scarf is knitted sideways – I prefer long but fewer rows, rather than an endless seesaw – in two directions, with asymmetric ends. The colors offer a rule for changing knit and purl stitches to add some reversible texture to the fabric and finally crossed slip stitches in a plain color make an eye-catcher as well as the easy short row border.
The scarf reminds of a lissom fish, that’s why I called it “Barrakuda”. But this predatory fish has no teeth and will keep you warm and cozy without fail!
The pattern will first be available at “Bad Meinberg spinnt”, June 30 - July 1, 2012 and later as a “Monatsdesign”/monthly design at http://www.dibadu.de/September-2012-Barrakuda-by-crocodile
