Barrington Station Beanie
Barrington Station Beanie pays homage to this gorgeous colorway’s original name: Train Graffiti. The allure of the train, watching and riding, has always drawn me in. When I was little, we would sit on the fence at the local rain yard and watch freight trains roll by. When we lived in the NW burbs of Chicago, we loved taking the Metra into downtown on the weekends; Barrington Station was our stop. It was always a treat to pass through all the different neighborhoods in such a diverse city.
This pattern includes both charted and written instructions, and is comprised of a cable and chevron lace stitch repeat. This pattern comes with two versions: short and long.
The short version is fewer rounds and meant to accommodate the shorter yardage of indie dyed yarn skeins. In the short version, two skeins are recommended, but there are suggestions and tips if you’d like to take a gamble and try it out with one skein (it will be very close on yardage).
The long version is a more traditionally fit beanie: more rounds to come down longer and cover the ears. This version recommends a single skein of bulky yarn over 100yds.
This is a fun pattern to knit with several options so you can “choose your stop” and even take a gamble if you’re feeling lucky!
