Nederlands onderaan

This doorstop is part of my Bar’s Heritage collection. This collection is a celebration of my Dutch heritage. We moved back to The Netherlands after 25 years abroad and are (re)discovering this beautiful country. I wanted to make something typically Dutch without settling for windmills, tulips, and wooden shoes.

This is a mosaic crochet pattern, where you will work on the right side only. Your work will curl a little, but that will be fixed by the border, which is worked in the round. Mosaic crochet is a lot easier than it looks. You use two basic stitches, the sc and dc (UK - dc and tr.) The design is formed by alternating color A and color B every row.

This pattern consists of three parts: two halves of the house, and the side.

There are photo tutorials for the techniques used, and a detailed sample is provided. The finished sample can be used as a coaster. I recommend making this sample, so you can determine your gauge and see which hook size gives the best result. You may need to go down or up a hook size.

I used 2 balls of Scheepjes Catona in contrasting colors. I used a 3 mm hook for the foundation row and a 2.5 mm hook for the rest of the work.

The dimensions of my doorstop are 20 cm x 14 cm x 7 cm (7.87’’ x 5.5” x 2.76”)(height x width x depth), my gauge is 24 stitches by 28 rows for 10 cm x 10 cm (4”x 4”)

Be aware - mosaic crochet is quite addictive!

Deze deurstopper is onderdeel van mijn Bar’s Heritage collectie. Deze collectie is een uiting van mijn blijdschap na bijna 25 jaar buitenland weer in Nederland te wonen. Ik wilde iets typisch Nederlands ontwerpen, zonder terug te vallen op molens, tulpen en klompen.

Dit is een patroon voor mozïekhaken, waarbij je slechts aan één kant van je werk haakt. Hierdoor kan je werk wel iets krullen, maar dit trekt weer weg nadat je de rand hebt gemaakt. Mozaïekhaken is eenvoudiger dan het lijkt. Je maakt slechts twee steken, de vaste en het stokje. Het patroon komt door het in elke toer wisselen van kleur A en kleur B.

Het patroon bestaat ui drie delen. De twee helften en de zijkant.

Ik heb foto-handleidingen gemaakt voor de technieken die gebruikt worden. Er is ook een uitgebreide handleiding voor een proeflapje, dat gebruikt kan worden als onderzetter. Ik raad aan om dit proeflapje te maken, zodat je kunt bepalen welke maat haaknaald het beste resultaat geeft.

Ik heb twee bolletjes Scheepjes Catona gebruikt in contrasterende kleuren. Ik heb een 3 mm haaknaald gebruikt voor de lossenketting en een 2,5 mm haaknaald voor de rest van het werk.

De maten van mijn deurstopper zijn 20 cm x 14 cm x 7 cm (hoogte x breedte x dikte)

Pas op - mozaïekhaken is erg verslavend!
