Rib and knit take the stage in this warm, long and cozy cardigan.

The cardigan is worked from bottom up, starting with one piece back and forth. Sleeves are worked in the round and joined to the body. After joining the sleeves, the cardigan is worked back and forth again to finish.

The pattern comes with tutorial on grafting underarm of body and sleeve stitches together.

The name Basalt Cardigan refers to geological structure called Columnar jointing. The pattern came to live in Hofsós (North of Iceland) where these structures can be found.
