The Basalt Pullover is a textured, ribbed sweater with a seamless drop-shoulder construction. It is classic, cozy, and casual, with an added bit of polish with the double collar. It has a slightly cropped silhouette.

Gauge
20 stitches and 22 rows per 4”/ 10cm on US 8 needle in ribbing pattern, lightly steam blocked.

Long Sleeve
Approximately 740(860, 950, 1100, 1240) (1380, 1550, 1680, 1850) yards
or 660(780, 860, 1005, 1140) (1270, 1420, 1540, 1700) m of any worsted weight yarn that gets gauge*

I used about 4 skeins of Cascade 220 (100g/220yd) in this sample, which is a yarn with a high wool content. The wool created a fabric that is slightly drapey but also holds its shape well. You could also choose a yarn with great stitch definition to emphasize the texture/lines of the ribbing pattern.

Short Sleeve
approximately 550(680, 760, 900, 1000)(1140, 1280, 1400, 1560) yards
or 500(620, 700, 830, 920)(1050, 1200, 1280, 1430)m of any worsted weight yarn that gets gauge

Options
If you’d like to hold two yarns together for additional options, you could use:
DK + lace weight held together
or 2 strands of fingering weight
However, this would affect your yardage! You would need the approximate yardage of both strands.

Notes
Construction
This sweater is knit bottom-up in the round, separated for the sleeves, and then worked flat for both front and back panels. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes.
