This pattern gives instructions for a basic aran/worsted weight beanie with many ideas to customize. It explains how to make it by knitting flat (back-and-forth) and I briefly explain how to convert it to working in the round. Sizing
True newborn size. Will fit average newborn head with a head circumference of 13”-14.5”

Yarn
Approximately 24g/40yd aran or heavy worsted weight merino wool yarn such as DROPS Big Merino or Malabrigo Worsted Merino.

Needles
US 6 flat needles or long circulars (or size to obtain gauge)
US 4 (or two sizes smaller than gauge needle)

Gauge
Stockinette Stitch w/ larger needles: 9.5 sts = 2”
