I make up this quick and easy beanie to donate to the local homeless shelter and people in my neighbourhood who are living rough. My partner has also claimed one for his early morning starts…

Dark colours usually work best for this project – the feedback from the shelter is that colours that don’t draw too much attention and can don’t need to be washed too often are best.

You can use wool, but the soft cheap acrylic works up cosy and warm. If you buy 2 x 100g balls in colours that will go well together, you can get 2 beanies per pair.
