This is a hat pattern created specifically for donating to soldiers though is a good basic beanie for anyone needing a warm hat. The size can be adjusted easily by choosing a different size hook or stopping the increase earlier (or later).

Military generally requires 100% wool and dark colors. Colors depending on where they are serving. The pattern suggests chestnut brown, black, and deep olive but if donating to a specific group do check to be sure what they are allowed to use.

Each hat takes about one skein of Patons Classic Wool using a G hook.

This version gives a flatter top. You increase to size and then work even until getting to the brim area.
