Anyone who knits is confronted with the need for a basic pattern. A basic pattern is the jumping-off point to the creation of an original. Use this to create your own beret.

This is my longwinded explanation of my creative process to create a beret. The purpose of this pattern is to teach the beginning knitter a beret, slouchy or otherwise. A worksheet for calculations is included.

If you use this pattern, email me to let me know how good / bad it is, and any suggestions that may help. I have not had anyone “test knit” with it, but if you do, I would love to hear from you, and see your results as well.

You may also go to Ink, Yarn & Beer and download it from the Patterns page on the right.
