Basic Black Sweater
With cables along the front centre and a Peter Pan collar, Basic Black is a flattering sweater that works with any wardrobe and is a great staple piece to wear year-round. This is a top-down knit with no seams, and short rows are used for shaping. The pullover is knit with a DK-weight yarn.
YARN
1440/1560/1740/1850/1970/2100/2190/2280 yds of DK-weight yarn.
• Used here: Berroco Vintage DK (217yds/100g) in black.
NEEDLES
4 mm 24” circular needle, and four 4 mm double-pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge).
GAUGE
23 sts x 32 rows = 4” in stockinette
MEASUREMENTS/SIZING
Choose size according to recipient’s bust measurement:
32”/34”/36”/38”/40”/42”/44”/46”
The sweater has about 5” of positive ease worked into the design.
