How to crochet a Basic C2C Afghan Square in Half Double Crochet Boxes with 12 sizes included and video tutorial.
This pattern includes 12 sizes from 4” up to 27”, and while I’m creating a throw pillow with my 16” square, you can…
- use them as afghan squares and sew a bunch together to make a blanket or a small rug
- string the square up on a dowel and use as a wall hanging
- use the square as a doily on a table
- use the square as the star of the show of a cardigan or top
- etc!
Materials:
- 15 (40, 68, 110, 170, 240, 310, 415, 520, 640, 770, 945) Yards of Worsted Weight Yarn - I used Red Heart Super Saver in the Buff colorway
- I9/5.5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
- Soft Tape Measure (if gauge is essential)
Material Notes:
Similar Yarns: Caron’s One Pound, Bernat’s Super Value.
Depending on your project, you can use any yarn in your stash with respective crochet hook, and just work the square to your desired size. I will be using my 16” square to create a throw pillow, and I like Red Heart’s Super Saver for my home projects because it’s durable, and machine washes well.
The yardage has been tested with the 16” size, and the rest are estimated based on this.
Gauge:
6 HDC Boxes = 4.13″ (4 1/8″) Wide by 3.63″ (3 5/8″) Tall
Abbreviations (US Terms):
- HDC - Half Double Crochet
- SC - Single Crochet
- C2C - Corner to Corner
