Basic Granny Square
A free version is also available.
A granny square got the entire motif movement started! At its most basic, it consists of groups of 3 double crochet and chain spaces.
This pattern offers my take on granny square construction. Each round begins in a corner, achieved by slip stitching from the end of one round to the beginning of the next.
The traditional granny square offers so many possibilities for customization. You can make it in one color, use multiple colors or mix and match for an entire project like a blanket.
