Basic Hot Water Bottle Cover
There are a lot of pretty hot water bottle cover patterns out there but some of them are more decorative than functional. If you prefer your cover to be solid and not have the risk of burning fingers that poking through gaps in the crochet, touching uncovered sections of hot water bottle (especially little fingers of kids) then this is the type of cover for you.
This pattern is quite simple and is a great starting off point to help you design your own hot water bottle covers and customise them - use it has a guideline for how to make a cover to fit whatever size bottle you have.
The basic stitches used in this pattern are chains, double crochet, half trebles, front post half trebles and back post half trebles (UK terms). The pattern doesn’t include tutorials on how to do those stitches.
Hook: 4mm
Yarn: Stylecraft Special DK, Stylecraft Batik or Stylecraft Batik Swirl. You will need between 140-200g of acrylic yarn.
- The pattern was developed and tested using the above yarns but any DK (double knit) acrylic or wool blend yarn with similar characteristics will work and this pattern is very easily adjusted for different yarns and hot water bottle sizes.
This is a free pattern but if you enjoy it and want to support me by paying for it, you can do so by support me on Ko-Fi with a donation.
