This is a basic hat created primarily with V-Stitches and double crochet. It’s good for practicing or just whipping up a quick beanie and can be done in a day if you’re fast.

Description of the V-Stitch is included. I also use the Chainless Starting Double Crochet and Adjustable Starting Ring, which are not described here. There are tutorials for both online but you can easily substitute a basic starting chain if you prefer.

This pattern may actually take less than the estimated yarn depending on the tightness of your stitches and your desired size. My stitches tend to be very tight so you may need to decrease the width and length if you do not match the gauge.

If you want to adjust the width, make sure to increase or decrease your final stitch count by multiples of three or the V-Stitches will not work properly. Different weights of yarn can achieve the same effect without the math.
