The Basic Wool Hat is a knit hat, featuring a tall cuff in a
contrasting rib texture and optional color blocking.

This pattern is designed to be knit bottom up (cuff first).
You may choose to knit this piece either flat or in the
round. Instructions are included for both methods.

This is a beginner friendly pattern, designed to be an introductory knitting project. It requires only one skein of the recommended yarn, Peace Fleece “Worsted”. If colorblocking, one skein of each color is required.

Size: One size only. Hat flat cuff inside diameter measurement: 18” (45.7 cm).

Gauge: 18 stitches x 26 rows = 4 in x 4 in (10cm x 10cm) in stockinette stitch

Needle sizes:
Needle sizes are suggested. Please knit a swatch and adjust your needle size to obtain gauge.

If knitting flat:
US 4 (3.5mm) and US 6 (4mm) straight needles, 13” long.

If knitting in the round:
US 4 (3.5mm) and US 6 (4mm) circular needles, 32” long cable.

Yarn:
Suggested yarn: Peace Fleece Worsted (200 yds/113 g)

If colorblocking:
Main color: approx. 90 yds (50 g) Aran weight yarn
Cuff color: approx. 80 yds (45 g) Aran weight yarn

If using only one color:
Approx. 170 yds (95 g) Aran weight yarn
