Welcome to the “Basket Loop Beanie”! This beginner-friendly pattern, aims to equip you with the essential steps to create a cozy and stylish beanie using basic knitting techniques. Whether you’re new to knitting or seeking a quick project, this pattern provides a straightforward yet rewarding experience.

The instructions for the pattern are available both in charted form and written out, allowing you the freedom to choose the method that best suits your preference for following along.

One size fits all: To fit an average adult head. Will stretch to comfortably fit up to 54 cm (21”).

Materials:

  • Katia Azteca (53% Virgin Wool - 47% Acrylic; 180m/197yd per 100g ball); color 7878; 1 ball
  • 4 mm (US 6) 40cm (16”) circular knitting needles
  • 5 mm (US 8) 40cm (16”) circular knitting needles
  • 5 mm (US 8) 100cm (40”) circular knitting needles or set of DPNs
  • One stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle
  • Pom-pon maker tool

Please take time to check gauge! Measurements were taken with the knitted fabric slightly stretched.
With smaller needles and in 1x1 Ribbing:
17 sts and 24 rounds = 10x10 cm (4x4”)
With larger needles and in Basket loop pattern:
14 sts and 22 rounds = 10x10 cm (4x4”)
