Basketweave Baby Blanket
Inspired by a sweater that I have, I realized that this open basketweave stitch would make a great baby blanket.
The pattern is written in a line by line format and includes a chart for the basketweave pattern which repeats over 8 rows. Using only knit and purl stitches this is a great pattern for a beginner knitter ready to take on a simple openwork pattern.
This blanket is knit in one piece, back and forth on a circular needle to accommodate the large number of stitches. The final size is 28” x 36” (70cm x 90cm). Instructions are provided on how to make the blanket larger or smaller.
A worsted weight/#4 yarn in cotton, cotton blend or acrylic is recommended, making for a beautiful soft and washable blanket perfect for crib, stroller or pram.
