Basketweave Poncho
I created this pattern with several requirements in mind. I wanted it in different weights of yarn, but the exact same pattern. I wanted to be able to use either a 3 weight yarn or a worsted weight yarn.
I wanted to use solids and the lovely Mandela/Self-striping yarn.
I wanted the length to be adjustable, to let the knitter decide whether or not to make the pattern longer. The pattern does make the length shown, but just keep doing the last repeat to make it longer if you prefer.
I wanted something the elderly could wear in a wheelchair and not be concerned about it catching in the wheels. It can also be work by nursing mothers for “modesty” reasons. It would also be lovely for young girls. And yes, that is all in this one pattern. Just choose the yarn you want to use and appropriate needle to go with it.
This may also be made with a crew neck instead of the rolled ribbed neck. Many possibilities.
Plus it is an easy pattern to memorize!
Thank you for choosing my pattern.
