Bats, Man!
Everyone needs a great bat! This quick knit, assembled from six pieces, looks impressive with wings folded or poised for flight. With variations for stiff and soft yarn or felting, you’ll want to knit a whole colony.
This is a toy bat in several sizes and wing variations, including a felted option. Gauge is unimportant, making this a great stash buster, especially for textured yarns.
-
Small bat uses one strand of worsted or two strands of sport on size 5 needles.
Large bat uses two strands of worsted on size 10 needles.
Large felted bat uses two strands of worsted, feltable wool on size 10 1/2 needles.
Techniques include garter, stockinette, increase, decrease, three-needle bindoff and optional i-cord.
Charts and photos clearly illustrate each piece.
Correction, left wing stockinette version: row 15 should read “Row 15: p10, p1 tbl, p1” and thanks to Ronikins for pointing this out.
