Batten Down The Hatches Blanket
Intermediate level
Filet crochet on the high seas!
This is a fun blanket featuring a ship. It has several different techniques incorporated within the blanket with the main focus on filet crochet. It also uses one of my own special stitches. I don’t do videos but a good friend has done a video of this specific stitch for me and there is a link to that within the pattern.
So thank you Fiona from Flo’s Crafty Crochet for the video.
I used Bendigo Woollen Mill 8ply Cotton for this and it is definately my favourite go to in cotton, but any dk weight yarn would work fine. Be mindful that BWM yarn is a thinner 8ply Dk than most.
Materials:
3.5mm/E hook
6 balls Bendigo Woollen Mill cotton 8 ply dk in ice. 485m/530yd per ball. Approximately 3155m/3450yd total. if gauge is met.
Note :Yarn quantities will vary if gauge is not met.
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Markers
This pattern has been tested by a large group with varying abilities in crochet.

I try to include as much information as I can in my patterns and often this means photographs for each row. This may not be for everyone, but most feedback I have from customers leans towards liking this format. If you don’t like photographs in patterns then please consider this before purchasing. I include a ‘how to’ for many of the special stitches in my patterns.
While I do try to offer pattern support where I can, most of my patterns are intermediate level or above. I DO NOT offer video tutorials or step by step basic crochet tuition, so please keep this in mind when purchasing.
