Battery Chicken Jacket
3.25-4mm needles are OK! Only takes one ball of wool.
NOTE: Archived website (2012) says they have plenty of jumpers for now.
From the Wikipedia entry “battery cage”:
In industrial agriculture, battery cages (often called laying cages in the United States) are a confinement system used primarily for egg-laying chickens.
From the Little Hen Rescue website:
Your hens have been kept in cages around the size of A3 pieces of paper, they are not alone but with 4-6 others. They can have caged or slated floors. Those from caged floors will have extremely long nails.
Your hens, until their release haven’t seen natural light, and quite often kept mostly in darkness to keep them calm and to stop them fighting under the stress. ….The hens usually come out of farms quite bald, and can be under weight…once finished you could drop them off to us or post them to us.
