Battigia is a crescent shawl worked sideways that plays with curves and short row colorworks in a way that reminds me of the waves movement on a shoreline (battigia in Italian).
Sideways Construction
The gentle curve of this shawl makes the big short-row motifs look as if they are converging at the top of the shawl, even if they are perfectly parallel.
Short Row Colorwork
This shawl uses a modified motif from the wonderful Woolly Wormhead’s book Short Row Colorwork, applied to a construction that has increases on one side and decreases on the other.
