Looking for something useful to do with all your leftover sock weight yarn that isn’t another blanket? This could be the answer.

With 2 strands of yarn held doubled throughout and not a purl stitch in sight, you’ll have a totally wearable item that is a jumper (sweater) bordering on poncho ~ top down, yoke, sleeves just like a jumper but once past the sleeve separation slowly morphing into a wider body that could fit a pregnant belly or maybe even a feeding newborn (not tested!).

Though not tested, I expect that you could also use worsted weight yarn in a single strand to achieve a similar look.

Needles and Notions
Size 4.0mm circulars in varying lengths from 40cm (16”) upwards to accommodate the large number of stitches.
Size 4.0mm DPN’s for working the sleeves.
Three stitch markers in distinct colours - one EOR and two for keeping track of body increases after sleeve separation.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

The sample shown used 25 different yarns/colourways simply because I had them available. Many thanks to my real-life and Rav friend purplevelvet for her donations to the cause as I have been able to include colours that wouldn’t normally be in my own stash.
