Bayou Boa
From the book “Deep South Knitting” and inspired by Biloxi, Mississippi and now available for download. Pattern includes Mississippi travel info and recipe for Red Velvet Cake.
Throughout the South, from the yards of humble low-country cottages to the grounds of lavish antebellum mansions to the swampy bayous of Biloxi and the Gulf Coast, everywhere you look are oak trees dressed up for a garden party with their streamers of curly Spanish moss. Stirring gently in the welcome breeze, the moss shifts from green to silvery grey gray and back again. The tendrils catch the summer rain, adding a magical little shimmer to the surface.
This lightweight boa is as gossamer as a spider web and will flutter gracefully in the slightest breeze. A touch of silk in the yarn gives the barest shimmer, reminiscent of the tiny diamond drops of rain captured by the moss and glistening in the summer sun. Wear it and create your own bit of a stir.
