“Just like a lotus we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom in the darkness, and radiate into the world.” --Unknown

The lotus flower is a symbol of spiritualism in different cultures such as Hinduism and Buddhism, where the lotus symbolizes spiritual awakening, purity, rebirth, creation and eternity. To blossom, the lotus must grow through the mud in a dirty pond in bad conditions while reaching for the light. And just like the lotus we too can grow through dark times and difficult situations, and radiantly bloom to full potential.

My Lotus wrap, crocheted from the bottom up, is crocheted in two sections, the main body of the wrap and the edging. This wrap has substantial width, making it perfect for wrapping up in, or wearing as a scarf.

The stitch pattern for the body of the wrap is an easy-to-memorize two-row repeat, and the stitches resemble lotus buds. Then, the edging begins with rows of mesh and ends with a stitch pattern that resembles the lotus flower.

I used two skeins of the beautiful hand-dyed MadelineTosh single-ply Tosh Mo Light yarn in the calming color “Surf”. Choose any color you like for both sections, or use one color for the main body of the wrap and one for the edging.

And, remember, be like the lotus and bloom to your full potential!

Skills required: basic crochet stitches, cluster stitches, counting rows and stitches (in sections of the pattern).

Note: Yarn used was MadelineTosh Tosh Mo Light in color “Surf”. My two skeins were mislabeled. :-/ The file has been changed.
