Be Mine Socks
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I love this holiday so much. I dreamt up some beautiful love-inspired shorties with an Celtic heart cable that curls up the side. Cables are so fun to knit and this cable is surprisingly simple to work while creating some stunning and intricate looking hearts.
Difficulty Level: 3/5
Perfect for knitters with some sock knitting experience to explore toe-up construction and cablework!
Techniques
The pattern is designed using the magic loop method, toe-up construction and a fleegle heel. If you are new to toe-up socks, this would be a great introduction to some new techniques.
Sizes
There are two sizes designed to fit a foot circumference of 7”/18cm(8”/20cm). These socks have a negative ease of approximately 1”. To choose your size, measure your foot circumference at the largest point and choose the size that is approximately 1” smaller.
Yarn
This pattern is designed to use Socknado, an amazingly squishy sock yarn by Canadian dyer Ancient Arts. In my sample, my MC is ‘Cozy’ and my CC is ‘White’. You can substitute any fingering weight yarn with a nylon component. For your MC you will need approximately 200-250 yds/182-228m. For your CC you will need approximately 55-75 yds/45-68m.
I also am knitting a sample in the colour ‘Pansy’ by Canadian dyer Lily & Pine on their Day Lily sock base.
Gauge
The pattern is written for a gauge of 36 stitches per 4” on US 0 (2.00mm) needles over stockinette stitch.
Note: The gauge is quite tight to accommodate extra stitches for the cable pattern. Make sure to check your gauge carefully before beginning to ensure a good fit.
I hope you enjoy these socks and have a great Valentine’s Day,
Emma
