The beachside cardigan is worked bottom up with a flat construction. Starting with the ribbed hem, the garment is worked as one piece for the body, then the fronts and back are split and worked individually. Optional short rows are worked at the tops of the shoulders, and the tops of the shoulders are worked together with a three needle bind off. Stitches are then picked up for the sleeves which are worked in the round, and stitches are picked up for a ribbed button band after the shoulders are connected.
