The Beaded Lace Scarf is an ingenious combination of bead knitting and easy lace. I teach bead knitting using this stylish design…not only will you learn several ways to knit with beads, you’ll want to make one in every color!

The center rectangle is knitted on the diagonal, with beads worked at the beginning and end rows. Ruffled borders are picked up and beaded once the center is complete. No sewing is required.

Clear directions are given in the pattern for placing beads. The sample was knitting using 400 yards of Illaris cotton and approximately 550 6/0 beads on size 6 needles. Size 7 can also be used. The design was also knitted in Silky Wool from Elsbeth Lavold with stunning results. Any tough DK yarn that pleases you will work for this pattern.

As far as selecting the bead color is concerned, we’ve had so much fun playing with the colorways! Both tonal/monochromatic (as shown in the Silky Wool sample) and contrasting (as shown in the cover photo) colors are beautiful. My advice? Be bold and use what you love!
